I spent a lot of time researching talented Black freelance editors. As a result of the research I did, I knew Tia would be good. She is the best. Initially, I was anxious about how much of my manuscript was going to be cut, chopped, or re-arranged during the editing process. She listened to my preferences and generously indulged me during the “getting to know you” part of the process until I no longer felt anxious at all. Her competence and professionalism made it easy to trust her with my work, plus she is well-organized, responsive, and kind.

I was a little anxious at first; I didn't want my voice erased. I was immediately relieved to see that she heard my voice. Tia got me. She called me on my BS though, and I sometimes laughed at the questions she posed as we improved my work. I learned a lot from her explanations with the edits and appreciated the research that she put into her work. By the end, I had a better grasp of tenses and a much cleaner and more concise story.
